Weight Gain for Boxers
Some boxers need more mass. Some just need to stop skipping meals. Weight gain for performance is a surplus you can train on, not a permission slip to eat junk until the scale moves.
Use a harder athlete plate on heavy days: more grains, still enough protein. If the goal is the other direction, read weight loss.
Principles that hold up
- Eat more often if your stomach is small. Three giant meals fail a lot of people.
- Keep protein in each sitting. See high-protein foods.
- Add calories in food you will actually chew: rice, oats, dairy or alternatives, nut butters, extra servings after hard rounds.
- Strength work and boxing both have to stay in the week. Extra food with no stimulus is just extra you.
What not to do
- Do not confuse “bulking” with giving up vegetables
- Do not drink the surplus only in sugar
- Do not ignore sleep. Growth happens when you are out
If appetite is gone because of stress or overtraining, fix recovery first. More cookies will not solve a nervous system that is cooked.
Train the extra fuel. Book a session or complete intake. See Training.
